PRINCIPAL HARD SURFACE WEAPON ARTIST NEW IP
RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Principal Hard Surface / Weapon Artist to join our team.
The role involves collaborating with the Art team to create visually striking, high-quality weapons and hard surface assets for our new AAA IP. You’ll work closely with Concept Artists, Designers, Animators, and Art Directors to design, model, and texture intricate weapons, gear, and mechanical props that push visual fidelity and storytelling.As a Principal Artist, you’ll help define the visual benchmarks for weapons and hard surface design, support the team with feedback and best practices, and ensure consistency across all assets — from early concept to final in-game implementation
Your responsibilities will include:
Create state-of-the-art, realistic 3D weapons, gear, and mechanics assets – from concept to final implementation in the game engine.
Assist in defining and upholding the visual style and standards for weapon and hard surface art in close collaboration with the Art Director.
Collaborate with Concept Artists, Designers, Animators, and Tech Artists to ensure consistency, functionality, and performance across assets
Mentor and support the Hard surface art team by providing feedback, technical guidance, and best practices.
Contribute creatively to weapon and prop design, offering ideas, know-how for designing content from FP view, and innovative solutions during development
REQUIREMENTS
6+ years of experience in weapon or hard surface asset creation
An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, silhouette, and composition.
Mastery of 3D Modelling Software (Fusion 360 will be used for high poly work, candidates with knowledge preferred)
Full understanding of UV and normal map creation pipeline (RizomUV, Marmoset).
Meticulous work with textures and materials - full PBR understanding and knowledge of material properties (Substance 3D).
Have a strong eye for realistic detail and storytelling
Sculpting skills (ZBrush).
Knowledge of weapons and mechanical design.
Understanding of basic design and art principles.
Constructive approach to problem solving.
Ability and willingness to work in a team.
Attention to detail.
Proficiency in English.
Preferences
Art or engineering education.
Experience with other tools (Jira, Miro, SVN, etc.).
A learner and self-developer.
