METRO 2033 & METRO: Last Light Complete Edition — Now Available on GOG

The METRO series has become more than just a set of games. Over the years, it has grown into a franchise that brought together a passionate community of players, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to support us as we bring you what's next in the METRO franchise. 

We felt that support especially strongly during the recent announcement of METRO 2039, which reminded us just how much our community still believes in METRO and has been waiting for news from us. 

Now feels like the right time to look back at where this journey began. 

Over the years, we have received many messages and comments from players telling us how important the original METRO games are to them. We listened, and together with our friends at GOG, we are happy to bring back the original versions of METRO 2033 (2010) and METRO: Last Light Complete Edition (2013) with the GOG preservation program. This release was made possible thanks to GOG’s preservation work, and we’re glad to offer players a way to experience these original versions on modern PCs through their platform. 

Both games are now permanently available on GOG. 

Along with optimising the games to run on modern PCs, the team at GOG have also optimised framerates, unlocked resolutions and added modern controller support through their proprietary GOG input tool.  

 

Here is a full list of what has been worked on for the best player experience:  

  • Full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11  

  • Added support for modern controllers (including Sony DualSense / DualShock 4, Microsoft Xbox Series / Xbox One / Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch 2 Pro / Switch Pro, Logitech F, Amazon Luna) with optimal button binding, hotplugging and wireless mode). 

  • Increased the maximum number of supported resolutions. 

  • Implemented new high-resolution framerate limiter. 

  • Implemented vertical synchronisation for fluid and tear-free experience. 

  • Optimised default game settings 

Thank you for your continued support. It means a lot to us that players still remember and love the games that started the 4A Games story. 

We hope this release gives long-time fans a chance to revisit the world of METRO as they remember it, and new players an opportunity to experience where it all began.
