Build Our Game Worlds

GAME DESIGNER / LEVEL DESIGNER

 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a talented Game Designer / Level Designer to join our team.  The job will require building our game worlds and realizing the vision of the greater design team, developing the plot, theme and rules, and ensuring the highest level of quality immersion is maintained to the level of standards appropriate with our studio pedigree.

  • Work closely with other Game Designers and Creative Director to bring the game’s vision to reality.

  • Build worlds and experiences to the highest level of immersion and believability.

  • Work with programmers to craft the gameplay experience.

  • Develop basic underlying principles of the game (game mechanics, levels, etc.).

  • Use the in-house technology (4A Games Engine) for creation of the game.

  • Create and control of execution of all the essential tasks assigned to the other departments using a bug tracking system (Jira).

  • Test game content created by the designer himself and others.

  • Create necessary accompanying documents for the generated and controlled tasks.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience of work for other game companies in the game/level design position (at least 5 years).

  • Actual experience with or knowledge of other AAA game engines, Licensed or Proprietary.

  • Extensive game mod creation experience.

  • At least 10 years of gaming experience.

  • Fluent English (and/or Russian).

 

Preferences

  • Any higher technical, art, or humanitarian education.

  • A completed Game Design course.

  • Equivalent on the job experience.

  • Ability to learn tools quickly and adapt to in-house software.

  • A passion for games.

 Improve on our gameplay mechanics

TECHNICAL DESIGNER

 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an experienced Technical Designer to expand and improve on our gameplay mechanics such as weapons, vehicles, player locomotion, etc.

  • Create and integrate gameplay mechanics.

  • Prototype and iterate on gameplay system improvements.

  • Implement mechanics/features directly in-engine using existing visual scripting tools.

  • Cooperate with other departments on implementation where necessary.

  • Create design and technical documentation on gameplay mechanics.

  • Integrate new gameplay mechanics into existing schemes while retaining full functionality.

  • Use in-house technology (4A Games Engine) for game creation.

  • Participate in toolkit improvement process while working on the game.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Good command of one or more existing game engines – UE4, Unity, CryEngine, etc.

  • Ability to quickly and sufficiently document and communicate an idea in writing or speech.

  • Ability to carry an idea from the conceptual phase to the finished illustration and an understanding of translating these ideas to real-time game content.

  • Technical understanding of the way the existing gameplay mechanics work and interact with each other.

  • Self-criticism and ability to accept criticism from other people. Open mindedness towards colleagues’ ideas. The more feedback you are ready to take, the better for the game.

  • Fluent English (and/or Russian).

  • Collaborative team player.

  • Ability to learn and master new instruments.

  • At least 5 years of gaming experience.

We are seeking an experienced AI Designer to expand and improve on our Human and Monster AI systems.

  • Create and integrate AI mechanics.

 BRING OUR GAMES TO LIFE

TECHNICAL ANIMATOR

 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly with animators, designers, modelers, and programmers to deliver excellent character movements, facial animations, mechanics and cutscenes.
  • Work with programmers to improve toolkit, systems, establish rigging standards.
  • Create rigs and skinning for animated organic and mechanical objects.
  • Proactively come up with ideas on how to improve animation pipeline.
  • Troubleshoot complex problems as they arise and construct solutions to unforeseen design problems in a timely manner.
  • Instructing colleagues and documenting necessary information.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Understanding of realtime skinning, IK, physics limitations and possibilities.

  • Understanding of real-world kinematics and ability to replicate physical movement using a mix of simulation tools and baked skeletal animations.

  • Ability to come up and utilize skinning tricks (folded shoulders, 2-bone ropes).

  • Familiarity with mocap and hand created animations.

  • Experience with human, exotic, and mechanical characters/objects.

  • A passion for games.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in rigging, animation, skinning, weighting and physics.

  • At least one shipped title on consoles.

  • Proven experience in applying modern interactive character animation techniques such as blend-trees, HFSMs, IK, and partial-body animation.

  • Excellent communicator with strong verbal and written English skills (Russian/Ukrainian is a plus).

  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills.

  • Self-direction and motivation.

  • Proactive attitude.

  • Desire to help drive the improvement of the game engine year-over-year.

  • Ability to work under strict schedule and time pressure.

Preferences

  • Experience working with procedural/physically-altered animation techniques.

  • Experience with cinematics and facial animation.

CREATE SHADERS FOR EFFECTS AND MATERIALS

SHADER ARTIST

 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create pixel and vertex shaders for effects and materials using HLSL and our engine.

  • Work closely with Artists to create rich looking finalized in-game assets.

  • Improve existing assets with better effects and PBR.

  • Create and support project-wide systems (universal weather and season changes, for example).

  • Work with Design teams to support with ideas, quick research and final feature development.

  • Work with FX team providing help with realistic, sci-fi and simply cool effects.

  • Be a friend to QA team and Programmers to carefully optimize what needs optimizing.

  • Deliver complete, tested and tuned features.

  • Work with particles and post-processing.

  • Work with lights.

  • Combine and utilize all engine features to achieve new heights and compete with the best.

  • Assist in improving our tools.

  • Quickly locate and fix what’s broken.

  • Be aware of global trends, learn relevant research papers, develop new ideas.

  • Provide help and tutoring to less experienced Artists and Designers.

  • Know the limitations of each target platforms and optimize scenes accordingly.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with real-time engines. Shipped games or strong portfolio are a must.

  • Understanding memory and performance limitations of real-time rendering.

  • Understanding of existing 3D rendering pipelines.

  • Self-motivated and proactive. Doing R&D means digging your own path ignoring doubts.

  • Several years of experience as a 2D and 3D Artist.

  • (HLSL experience || Unreal Engine materials experience || Unity scripting experience).

  • Have common math and trigonometry knowledge.

  • English.

 

Preferences

  • Good understanding of real-life physics and matter interactions.

  • Feeling of timing and dynamics.

  • Unity scripting experience.

  • Ability to code.

  • Technical mind, developed logic, thinking ‘beyond the box’.

  • Ability to pass physics or math tests from primary school course.
